Agartala Government Medical College student attacked by miscreants, doctors stage protest

Agartala, 3rd June 2024:  A student from Agartala Government Medical College was assaulted by unidentified miscreants during the night of June 1, following a verbal altercation with a group of youths while parking his bike at GB Hospital.

The student, who sustained serious head injuries, was immediately rescued and transported to the trauma center of GB Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

In response to the attack, students of Agartala Government Medical College organized a protest on Monday afternoon in front of the college premises. “If doctors and students are not safe, they won’t be able to provide services in the future,” one of the protesting students asserted.

The protesters are demanding the arrest of the three to four individuals responsible for the attack. “We have reported the entire incident to the MS and Principal of Agartala Government Medical College. They have assured us that strict action will be taken against the accused,” another student stated.

The administration of Agartala Government Medical College has pledged to ensure the safety of its students and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
