Agartala-Mumbai rail service to transform state’s connectivity: Sushanta

Agartala: Sept 30.  Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today said that Agartala-Mumbai rail service is a significant addition to the state’s communication infrastructure, promising far-reaching benefits for a diverse range of individuals.

The express train is slated to make stops at seven strategically chosen stations en route from Agartala to Guwahati. These stations, including Ambasa, Dharmanagar, Badarpur, New Haflong, Lamding, Hojai, and Chaparmukh, will serve as key hubs along the journey.

Minister Chowdhury emphasized that the introduction of this rail service will prove instrumental in uplifting various sectors of society. Job seekers, patients, students, tourists, and businessmen are among those expected to reap the rewards of this transformative initiative.Expressing heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the state government, Minister Chowdhury extended thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnab for their visionary leadership in realizing the Agartala-Mumbai rail service.

Speaking to the broader vision of enhanced connectivity, Minister Chowdhury highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to fortifying communication networks nationwide. He lauded the implementation of the diamond model, which has propelled the state’s communication system into a new era of efficiency since its announcement in 2018.

As a testament to this progress, the state currently boasts a network of 11 express trains connecting various states, along with five operational local train services.Minister Chowdhury also revealed the far-reaching scope of the Amrit Bharat Station Project, an ambitious endeavor supported by Prime Minister Modi, aimed at revitalizing 508 railway stations across different states, with a dedicated focus on the North Eastern region. Notably, Dharmanagar, Kumarghat, and Udaipur railway stations within the state are set to benefit from this transformative scheme, with an allocation of INR 96.6 crores earmarked for their development.

In an exciting update for cross-border connectivity, Minister Chowdhury confirmed that rail communication with Bangladesh is on the horizon, signifying a momentous stride towards regional integration.

The announcement concluded with the revelation of an upcoming inauguration of a modern escalator at Agartala railway station, further enhancing the passenger experience.The press conference witnessed the presence of Transport Secretary UK Chakma, Additional Secretary Subrata Chowdhury, and other key stakeholders, underscoring the collective commitment to ushering in a new era of connectivity for the state of Tripura.
