Agartala, 27th March 2026: Agartala residents continue to face severe waterlogging problems, and so far, the government and the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) have been unable to provide a lasting solution. Despite using modern technology in recent years, water management issues remain unresolved. With the monsoon season approaching, the AMC has drawn up multiple plans to ensure that past failures do not become apparent to the public this year.

The corporation has intensified work on widening drains, constructing new culverts, and building covers over existing drains in various parts of the city. On Friday, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumdar inspected the progress of these ongoing development works. After surveying the projects on-site, Mayor Majumdar stated that he had reviewed the progress of all government projects currently underway in the AMC area.

To alleviate waterlogging, the decision was made to install three additional pump machines. Tender processes have been completed, and locations for the new pumps have been finalized. One pump will be installed near the TRTC area, while the other two will be set up near Shakuntala Road and adjacent to Bani Vidyapith School. Mayor Majumdar also assured that arrangements are being made to ensure that these pumps operate efficiently to control waterlogging during the monsoon.
