Agartala Press Club felicitates students of media families

Agartala, 30th June 2025:   In a spirited celebration of academic achievement and family legacy, the Agartala Press Club today felicitated 16 students, the children of journalists and photojournalists, who successfully cleared their secondary and higher secondary examinations this year.

The vibrant event took place in the Press Club auditorium witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of students and their families. Veteran journalist and editor Subal Kumar Dey, veteran journalist Shekhar Datta and senior journalist Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Club President Pranab Sarkar and Vice President Chitra Roy graced the occasion as guests of honour.

Press Club Secretary Ramakanta Dey delivered the welcome address. He was joined by Assistant Secretaries Kamal Chowdhury and Abhishek Dey, Treasurer Ranjan Roy and Managing Committee Members Abhishek Debbarma, Mihir Sarkar, Santosh Gope, and Biswajit Dey along with senior members Alok Ghosh and Surajit Pal in presenting mementos, saplings and cash prizes to the awardees.

Speakers encouraged the students to pursue their dreams with determination and purpose while reminding them of their responsibilities to their families. In a heartfelt appeal, they urged the youth to ensure their parents never feel neglected in their twilight years.

The ceremony concluded with a communal luncheon, where students and journalist families shared moments of joy and camaraderie.

This marks the first time the Agartala Press Club has initiated such a felicitation programme. The management committee expressed its commitment to making it an annual tradition to recognize and uplift the children of the media fraternity.
