Agartala, 26th February 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced that Tripura will introduce a first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence policy with support from the Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog.
As Agartala is a smart city, AI solutions will be used for traffic management, waste management, water supply, and more.
Dr. Saha made the announcement at the launch of the Tripura State Innovation Mission in Agartala, India’s first state-level innovation mission.
He said Tripura is fully paperless at all government levels and aims to translate youth aspirations into enterprise.
The mission, supported by institutions like IIM Calcutta, IIT Delhi, IIM Bangalore, and T-Hub, will nurture enterprises in agriculture, green tech, digital services, tourism, and healthcare. The execution arm, T-NEST, will connect campuses to markets and ideas to investment, with innovation centers planned across all eight districts.
The state is also planning a Tripura AI Centre of Excellence, an IT and Data Economic Zone, and an IT park to boost the technology and data ecosystem.
