Agartala’s Medicaid Lab and Kolkata’s Desun Hospital join forces to launch Gastroenterology & Cancer Clinic

Agartala, 12th April 2025:   In a landmark development for healthcare services in Tripura, Kolkata’s Desun Hospital and Agartala’s Medicaid Pathological Lab and X-Ray Clinic jointly inaugurated a state-of-the-art Gastroenterology and Cancer Clinic here today. The ceremony took place at the Agartala Press Club.

Speaking at the event, Sajal Datta, Chairman and Managing Director of Desun Hospital emphasized the importance of expanding healthcare accessibility across the nation. “Desun is committed to extending its expertise beyond metropolitan cities to areas where quality healthcare is a pressing need. This new clinic in Agartala signifies our dedication to early detection and timely treatment, which are pivotal in combating serious illnesses,” he remarked.

The newly inaugurated clinic promises specialized diagnostic and treatment services for cancer and liver diseases, drawing on Desun Hospital’s cutting-edge technology and medical expertise. With this collaboration, the clinic aims to address the growing demand for specialized medical care in the northeastern states of India.

The event also featured an Outreach Clinic and a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, attracting participation from the local medical fraternity. Esteemed physicians from Desun Hospital delivered enlightening talks, sharing insights into modern advancements and treatment approaches in their respective fields.

Dr. Shreya Mallick, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Desun Hospital, spoke on recent breakthroughs in cancer treatment during her keynote address, “Recent Medical Advances in Breast and Lung Cancer.” Her discussion shed light on innovations in personalized treatment strategies and their transformative impact on patient care. “Our goal is to align treatment plans with individual patient needs and improve overall outcomes,” she added.

Dr. Amitabh Datta, Consultant Gastroenterologist, focused his talk on the growing concern of fatty liver disease. “Early diagnosis is key to managing fatty liver. Lifestyle modifications, combined with contemporary treatment methods, can greatly enhance recovery prospects,” he shared.

Commenting on the collaboration, Kishloy Ghosh, Director of Medicaid Pathological Lab and X-Ray Clinic, expressed his optimism about the venture. “This partnership with Desun Hospital represents a shared vision to bring world-class healthcare services to Agartala. It’s not merely about setting up a clinic—it’s about addressing real healthcare challenges and providing specialist services right at the patients’ doorsteps,” he stated.
