Agartala, 16th June 2026: The All India Democratic Women’s Association on Tuesday submitted a deputation at the Police Headquarters highlighting public interest issues, followed by a two-hour sit-in demonstration at Paradise Chowmuhani.
During the protest, leaders of the association raised three key demands: curbing the rising prices of essential commodities including petrol, diesel, and cooking gas; halting measures that withdraw children from Anganwadi centres and restrict employment opportunities for workers and helpers; and ensuring the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those accused in the murder of Santiniketan Medical College staff member Manisha Das.
Speaking to reporters after the programme, the association’s leadership stressed that the investigation into the Manisha Das case must be conducted under the supervision of a sitting judge to guarantee impartiality and transparency. They called for a thorough probe and strict action against the culprits.
The organisation warned that if these demands are not met promptly, larger movements will be launched in the coming days.
