AIDYO submits memorandum to PM Modi through West DM amid unemployment crisis

Agartala, 14th October 2025:  As India grapples with a deepening unemployment crisis, youth across the country are increasingly turning to precarious and informal work, including gig jobs and migrant labor, in the absence of stable employment opportunities. The lack of concrete action from both central and state governments has sparked widespread frustration, culminating in mass protests in states such as Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

According to a recent report from the Union Ministry of Finance, nearly 1 million sanctioned posts remain vacant across 78 central government departments. State governments also face a backlog of unfilled positions, while private sectors—particularly IT and manufacturing—continue to downsize. Agriculture, traditionally a major source of youth employment, is witnessing an exodus, with thousands of farmers abandoning the profession daily.

Even in sectors where job openings exist, allegations of recruitment corruption and exam paper leaks have further eroded public trust. These systemic failures have triggered a wave of youth-led demonstrations demanding accountability and reform.

In response, the All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) has launched a nationwide agitation, outlining three key demands: Immediate filling of all vacant government posts, creation of new jobs, and support for private enterprise to address unemployment; Strict measures to curb recruitment corruption and prevent examination paper leaks; and Exemplary punishment for those found guilty of recruitment fraud and exam malpractice.

As part of this campaign, AIDYO’s Tripura state committee organized a protest rally today at Paradise Chowmuhani, urging youth to mobilize for employment rights. Addressing the gathering, State President Bhabatosh Dey called for a sustained youth movement to press for systemic change.

Following the rally, a delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister through the West Tripura District Magistrate, reiterating their demands and seeking urgent intervention.
