Agartala, July 9, 2023: The All India Progressive Students Forum has set a time limit of 7 days to the Higher Education department and the state government to fulfill the demands.

In a press conference at Agartala Press Club on Sunday, Forum’s state secretary Debasish Bhowmik alleged that the admission fees in ordinary degree colleges of the state have been increased at an abnormal rate this year. Due to increase in admission fees, many students are struggling to afford the college admission fees.

A deputation was given to the Department of Higher Education on July 3 on behalf of the Forum. But till now there is no reply from the higher education department or the state government.

Therefore, the forum gave the state government a 7-day time limit to ensure that everyone can get admission in the colleges by reducing the admission fees in the ordinary degree colleges. Besides, the forum demanded to stop collecting fees from the students in the name of infrastructure development in the schools under the Vidyajyoti project, he added.
