Agartala, 25th December 2025 : A sense of relief prevailed across Unakoti district after 24 teenagers and young men, reported missing from the Chandipur Assembly constituency, were safely rescued in a coordinated inter-state operation.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Unakoti Superintendent of Police Sudhambika R. said a missing persons complaint was lodged at Kailashahar police station last Tuesday, following which an FIR was registered and an investigation was immediately launched. During the probe, mobile phone location tracking revealed that the youths had been taken to the Belang police station area in Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Acting on the inputs, the Unakoti district police swiftly coordinated with the Arunachal Pradesh Police, leading to a successful rescue operation. “The operation was possible due to direct coordination between Tripura Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar (IPS) and Arunachal Pradesh Director General of Police Anand Mohan (IPS),” the SP said.
All 24 youths were safely rescued by the Arunachal Pradesh Police and are currently under police custody. The SP added that after completion of necessary legal formalities, they will be brought back to Tripura at the earliest.
The successful operation has drawn widespread appreciation from the public in Unakoti district. Relief and satisfaction were also reflected on social media platforms following confirmation of the safe rescue of the missing youths.
