All Tripura Blind Association submits memorandum to SW&SE minister on 16 demands

Agartala, April 17: The long-standing problem of 30,000 blind people in the state is not being resolved. Among these, All Tripura Blind Association submitted a memorandum to the Minister of Social Welfare and Social Education department with 16 point demands, including filling up vacant posts for the blind in government offices, introducing Braille press and increasing the allowance of the blind from Rs 2000 to 5000.

A delegation of All Tripura Blind Association met Minister Tinku Roy at Civil Secretariat on Monday. Mithun Saha was the general secretary of the organization. Their demands include speedy filling of vacant posts for the visually impaired in various departments of the state government through special recruitment process, installation of braille press in the state, making the amount of allowance Rs 5000, implementation of the Rights of Persons with Specially Ability Act-2016 and so on.

He expressed hope that the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education will take appropriate steps for the welfare of the blind. The minister assured them to look into the matter.
