Agartala: April 17. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha today laid emphasis on the conservation and management of Rudrasagar Lake in Melaghar and has directed to maintaining the 240 hectare area earmarked for the lake under the Ramsar site.
As per sources Chief Minister Dr Saha today chaired a review meeting which was held today on the conservation and management of Rudrasagar Lake in Melaghar.
In the review meeting, proper management of Rudrasagar and maintaining the beauty of Neermahal was given the highest priority.
“In the discussion at the meeting, the Chief Minister laid emphasis on maintaining the 240 hectare area earmarked for the Rudrasagar Lake under the Ramsar site. The CM has also said that it is also necessary to ensure that there is no problem in the livelihood of the people around the Rudrasagar area because various agricultural products reach different parts of the state from Rudrasagar area of Melaghar”, said sources
During the meeting Praveen Agarwal, Additional Chief Conservator of Forests, Department of Forests, presented the context of Rudrasagar through a PowerPoint presentation.
He informed in the meeting about the various programs implemented through the Public Resources Department and the Forest Department under the PWD for the reform and development of Rudrasagar.
During the meeting MLA Kishore Barman, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Advocate General Siddharth Shankar Dey, Director General of State Police Amitabh Ranjan, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests K. S. Shetty, Principal secretaries and secretaries of various departments, lawyer Indrajit Chakraborty, representatives of Rudijala Udbastu Motsojibi Somiti were present.
