Agartala, 17th October 2026 : Extending a helping hand to thousands of people visiting the city during the Sharadiya Durga Puja festivities, the All Tripura Merchants Association has set up a drinking water station and first-aid facility at Kaman Chowmuhani, near Zero Point in Agartala. The initiative aims to provide essential assistance to visitors amid the festive rush.
The facility was inaugurated by Ratan Saha, president of the All Tripura Merchants Association and a prominent businessman, in the presence of the association’s secretary, Sujit Roy, and other members. Representatives of the Jagannath Jiu Temple Committee and several social contributors also attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Sujit Roy said the association had been continuing the initiative for nearly 15 years to serve people during the Durga Puja celebrations. He said the programme was inspired by the association’s late secretary, Chanduman Saha, and renowned philosopher Dr Vrindavan Bihari Das Kathalia Baba Maharaj.
“We are delighted to provide drinking water and other essential services to thousands of people visiting the heart of Agartala during the Puja days. Along with drinking water, we are distributing chocolates and providing first-aid assistance in collaboration with Swami Dhananjay Das Kathalia Baba Mission College,” Roy said.
He informed that the service began on Saturday and would continue for four days, until Navami Puja. The facilities would remain available until late at night to assist people during the festive rush.
Roy acknowledged the contributions of Chalisa Saha, who has been associated with the initiative since its inception, Olympic Association Organizing Secretary Pinaki Chakraborty, Tanmoy Sengupta and other members of the organising team.
Extending Puja greetings to the people of Tripura on behalf of the association and the state’s business community, Roy said the association would continue the initiative in the coming years as part of its commitment to public service.
