Allegations against trader at Sekerkote Chowmuhani market

Date:

Agartala, 13th June 2026:   Tensions have escalated at Sekerkote Chowmuhani Market under Amtali Police Station after local traders lodged formal complaints against businessman Manik Das.

According to market committee members and fellow traders, Das has allegedly been involved in irregular practices, including operating his business illegally for an extended period. The traders convened today, demanding immediate administrative intervention.

The complainants have called for Das’ indefinite expulsion from the market, closure of his shop, and legal action against him. They further allege that Das has repeatedly harassed other shopkeepers by filing false complaints against them.

Local traders claim his actions have tarnished the reputation of both the market and the surrounding area. They warned that if authorities fail to act swiftly, they may be forced to shut down the market indefinitely as a form of protest.

At the time of reporting, Das’ response to the allegations was not available. The administration has also refrained from issuing any official statement on the matter.
