Agartala, 23rd March 2025: A shooting incident in the Tilla area of Kuishya under Teliamura police station took place yesterday evening has caused widespread commotion. The accused identified as Abhijit Das, a resident of South Pulinpur allegedly fired two rounds at his wife and other members of her family before fleeing the scene.
Police sources informed, Abhijit Das arrived at his in-laws’ house armed with a pistol. “He fired two rounds before escaping when locals heard the gunshots,” a police official stated. The authorities recovered two cartridges from the scene and described the pistol as “state-of-the-art.”
Local residents have alleged that Abhijit is a drug addict who had been subjecting his wife to prolonged physical and mental abuse. “When the torture became unbearable, she sought refuge at her father’s house a few days ago,” a neighbor claimed. It is suspected that Abhijit went to his in-laws’ house with the intention of taking his wife back.
The incident has left the Teliamura area tense, with police launching an investigation and actively searching for the accused. The situation remains under close watch as authorities work to ensure safety and order in the region.
