Agartala, 3rd March 2026: Residents of Nimai Para, a part of North Nalichar in Ambassa subdivision, continue to face severe hardship due to the lack of safe drinking water, even as local authorities have changed multiple times.
Nearly 40 families in the area are reportedly enduring extreme difficulties because of the prolonged water crisis.
Locals said they have repeatedly approached the concerned departments, submitting both written complaints and verbal requests for assistance. However, no permanent measures have been taken so far.
There has been neither pipeline repair nor any emergency initiatives, leaving the residents frustrated. Many allege that promises by officials have remained confined to paper.
Due to the acute shortage, villagers are forced to fetch water from the neighboring Mog Para, often traveling long distances every day. This burden falls heavily on women, the elderly, and children, disrupting their daily lives.
Residents have called for an immediate and permanent solution to ensure access to safe drinking water.
