Agartala, September 03, 2022: Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder on Saturday convened a significant meeting with the councillors and officials of the corporation for cleaning the Agartala city ahead of Durga Puja festival.
“In view of the ensuing Durga Puja festival, a large number devotees from different parts of the state and across India. Hence, it’s our first and foremost responsibility to clean the surroundings, and repair the roads and footpaths which are in deplorable condition. This time, we are taking significant and remarkable decisions for the better look of Agartala city ahead of Durga Puja festival compared to those which were taken earlier”, said Mayor Majumder while speaking to reporters at the Corporation’s conference hall here on Saturday noon.
“An amount of Rs 6 lakh has been sanctioned for each ward for maintenance works ahead of the puja celebration. Earlier also, the corporation had released Rs 16 lakh to each ward for various developmental and welfare related works. Work of Rs 18 crore has been done already in and around Agartala city”, he added.
Majumder said “There is another appeal for the clubs and households, who are organizing the Durga Puja will don’t have to pay any fee while submitting an application to the AMC office. This decision has been taken for the first time by the Corporation. Earlier, Rs 200 was compulsory to be given while submitting application seeking permission.”
“Tomorrow, we will convene another meeting with officials of various line departments, where representatives of different clubs and local guardians of respective areas will remain present. In the meeting, discussion will be held on the ensuing Durga Puja celebration. AMC will also hold prize distribution ceremony after the festival and details will be publicized soon”, he also added.
