Agartala, March 01, 2023: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated special drive for protecting the people of the capital city from the problem of mosquitoes.
Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said that the problem of mosquitoes increases during this period but would have decreased after rainfall.
“However, each zone and ward of the Agartala Municipal Corporation do have fogging machines and two staffs extra are being appointed for this task. As the drains are high in numbers in the corporation area, AMC is making attempts to purchase more fogging machines. However, those fogging machines we have are almost sufficient”, he added.
Mayor said that the Corporation is striving to protect the urban residents from the disturbances created by mosquitoes. “Not only this, AMC task force is regularly taking initiatives to clean the drains, but the work couldn’t be done as officials were engaged in election-related duties and responsibilities. At present, the election process is in the verge of completion, hence, the officials had started their respective works in full throttle”, he also added.
Majumder said “I have also talked with the CMO of West Tripura district and had held meeting with the Corporation’s officials regarding this problem of mosquitoes. The CMO’s office is regularly suppling the medicine used for fogging to the Corporation. We believe that the resident of the Agartala city will be relieved from the problem of mosquitoes in a very short span. We are determined to cleanse the drains so that mosquitoes cannot breed.”
