Agartala, 7th August 2026 : Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has intensified efforts to provide a permanent solution to the recurring waterlogging problem faced by residents during the monsoon season, said Mayor Dipak Majumder on Friday.
The Mayor, accompanied by AMC engineers and senior officials, conducted an on-site inspection of several waterlogging-prone areas across the city, including RMS Chowmuhani and Jaynagar.
During the inspection, Majumder reviewed the current condition of the drainage system and identified locations where obstacles were affecting smooth water flow and drainage. He directed the concerned engineers and officials to take immediate and long-term measures to resolve the issue and ensure effective water management during the rainy season.
“The objective is to provide a permanent solution to the waterlogging problems faced by citizens during monsoon. The concerned officials have been instructed to take necessary steps on priority,” the Mayor said.
Apart from reviewing the city’s drainage infrastructure, the Mayor also visited the site of the upcoming Coffee House at Agartala Shishu Udyan ground. He took stock of the progress of the construction work and instructed officials to expedite the project and complete it within the scheduled timeframe.
During the inspection, Mayor Majumder was accompanied by Ward No. 20 Councillor Ratna Datta, AMC East Zone Chairman Sukhmoy Saha, AMC Commissioner Saju Wahid A, along with engineers and officials associated with the projects.
