Agartala, November 04, 2022: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder on Friday visited the open field alongside of Sarat Sangha for inspection and renovate it for playing by the children of the locality.
The club members of Sarat Sangha and Ramthakur Sangha also participated during inspection and expressed their desire for the development of the field. However, sources claimed that a local club’s active member named Chandi Das tried to interrupt the discussion again and again and later, stepped back coming under pressure of all present with Mayor.
Speaking to media persons here, Majumder said that the Corporation has initiated measures to renovate fields to be used by every age of people and abandoned water bodies in the city. All those fields and water bodies will be beautified by the AMC and make it open for use by the respective localities.
“I am available for service to the people of Agartala city. I am available at BJP state headquarters on second and fourth Saturdays of every month as well as in Corporation office. People of the AMC area can meet me anytime with their problems and necessities. Accordingly, few days back, club members of Sarat Sangha and localities met with me for renovating this field. Hence, today, I have come here to inspect. The club members, local guardians, corporator Anjana Das and media in-charge Sunit Sarkar and others were present during my visit”, he added.
“I will do whatever I can to develop the field. The club is looking for a gym, I will try. I have come to know that this gym is constructed from ML-LAD Fund, if not, I will try to arrange from the corporation and also talk with Sports minister Sushanta Chowdhury in this regard. Overall, the government’s main motive is to provide proper space for games and sports to the local people. I am clearly stating that no marriage hall can be done here. There is government, municipality and public. Nothing can be of individual ownership. Fields has been to be left open for playing by children. The local Club authority requested for garage purpose, they can do it on the side of the field and making path for movement. Agartala Municipal Corporation is going on to solve the overall problem of people”, Majumder told reporters.
