Agartala, 18th March 2025:   The Vice-Chairman of Ambassa Municipal Council Gopal Sutradhar today drew the Chief Minister’s attention to various developmental issues in Ambassa areas.

Speaking to media personnel here, Sutradhar highlighted several concerns affecting the area. He mentioned that following the last municipal elections, Mamata Das, the Chairperson of Ambassa Municipal Council, had to step down due to her involvement in a government job. Consequently, Gopal Sutradhar had been serving as the acting Chairperson for an extended period until Pratima Malakar was appointed as the new Chairperson four months ago.

Expressing gratitude to the state government, Sutradhar said, “The decision to establish a degree college in Ambassa fulfills a long-standing demand of the people. I thank the Chief Minister for this initiative.” He also shared plans for constructing a building modeled after a city center on the site of the old Ambassa cinema hall and a multi-storied business stall on the land of the old food godown in Ambassa market. “The state government has already called for tenders to prepare a DPR for the city center-like building, and a decision on the multi-storied business stall will be taken soon,” he added.

Sutradhar also raised concerns about the slow pace of construction work in the Shantipara area, particularly the covered drain project. “With the monsoon season approaching, the lack of urgency in completing these projects is worrying. I appeal to the Chief Minister to intervene and ensure timely completion,” he stated.

Additionally, he highlighted the plight of nearly 2,000 families residing in the forest reserve area of TRTC Para in Ambassa, who are yet to receive government housing. “While the Bru settlement area is being provided with all facilities, these families remain neglected. I urge the Chief Minister to address this disparity,” Sutradhar emphasized.

Councilors Sabita Das, Anil Debnath, Apu Deb, and Gautam Debnath were present in the press conference.
