Agartala, 13th March 2025: For the second time, Amtali Police have arrested the notorious mafia named Biplab Majumder from Amtali area. Biplab, son of Raghu Majumder of Bhola Giri Ashram locality is infamously known as a mafia figure in Amtali. He first came under police scrutiny in 2013 after assaulting a TSR jawan stationed at Amtali Police Station. A case was registered against him under multiple sections bearing case number 04/2023.
Reportedly, Biplab was illegally occupying government land near the Amtali bypass road adjacent to the police station, where he constructed multiple shop structures. Last night, he challenged Amtali police in various ways intimidating witnesses into silence due to fear. Eventually, the police arrested him and brought him to the station, where he allegedly hurled abusive language at officers and issued threats.
Sources from Amtali Police confirmed that legal action was taken against him on the same night. Residents of the area, long troubled by Biplab’s activities, believe that he operates with the indirect backing of powerful individuals. Public demand is growing for swift action from the local MLA and Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal to address the mafia’s activities.
