Rampada Jamatia proposed as Speaker of Tripura Assembly

Agartala, 12th March 2026:  The NDA parliamentary party has proposed the name of senior leader Ramapad Jamatia for the post of Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly. The decision was taken at a meeting held today

Chief Minister stated that Jamatia’s long political experience, dedication, and leadership would strengthen and make the Assembly’s functioning more effective in the days ahead. He also extended his personal congratulations and wished Jamatia success in his future responsibilities.

Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee confirmed that the NDA alliance, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, had put forward Jamatia’s name for the Speaker’s post. On the occasion, Bhattacharjee met Jamatia to convey his greetings and expressed confidence that his years of political experience would help make the Assembly more organized, dynamic, and robust.

The Speaker’s post had fallen vacant following the demise of Biswabandhu Sen. Since then, Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal has been serving as Acting Speaker.
