Agartala, 5th May 2025: Complaints about the poor services at the Gomati District Hospital in Udaipur Tepania have been rampant for years, but the situation took a more serious turn on Monday, when a woman was forced to seek medical treatment outside the district due to alleged negligence by the hospital staff.
Sources said that Hasi Begum, a housewife from Udaipur’s Netaji Nagar area, was brought to the hospital after suffering a leg fracture. However, her husband, Sohag Mia, claims that the on-duty doctor failed to attend to her in time. Despite repeated attempts to contact the doctor, they received no assistance, forcing the family to make the difficult decision to travel all the way to Agartala for treatment.
Sohag Mia expressed his frustration, stating, “I informed the on-duty doctor about the situation, but they didn’t come. My wife was in pain, and I had no choice but to take her to Agartala myself.”
This incident has sparked outrage among the locals, who have long been vocal about the hospital’s poor service. Many allege that the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Gomati District Hospital has been unresponsive to public complaints, with claims that he often relies on his political connections to avoid accountability.As the situation escalates, local residents are calling for urgent reforms and better management at the hospital to ensure that no one else has to endure such neglect.The Medical Superintendent could not be reached for comment at the time of writing.
