APC President  Pranab Sarkar lodges complain against Motha MLA

Agartala, 15th February 2026:  Journalist Pranab Sarkar , Editor of Headlines Tripura National has lodged a formal complaint at West Agartala Police Station against Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma over alleged threatening and defamatory remarks circulated on a Facebook page titled The Social Bangla.

In his written complaint, Sarkar alleged that multiple statements made by Debbarma were published on the said Facebook page, in which he was allegedly threatened and defamed. According to the complaint, the MLA used controversial, unethical, obscene, and objectionable language in the videos and statements shared on social media.

Sarkar further stated that Debbarma, described in the complaint as a former extremist leader, attempted to demean and intimidate both him and Shanita Debray, editor of Aajker Fariyad newspaper, through his public remarks.

The journalist claimed that publishing such videos and statements constitutes a criminal offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and violates provisions of the Information Technology Act. He has urged the police to take immediate legal action against Debbarma as well as against the specific Facebook page responsible for disseminating the content.

Police at West Agartala Police Station confirmed that the complaint was officially received on February 15.
