Agartala, 17th November 2025: Agartala Press Club President and General Secretary of the All India Journalists’ Union Pranab Sarkar visited Kailashahar yesterday accompanied by Khumulwng Press Club Secretary and Agartala Press Club Executive Member Ranjit Debbarma, and Tripura Electronic Media Society Secretary Sourajit Pal.
Upon arrival, the delegation first visited the residence of late senior journalist Swapan (Bidyut) Baidya, where they offered floral tributes to his portrait and assured the bereaved family of their support.
The team then proceeded to the Kailashahar Journalist Club before heading to the Kailashahar Press Club, where they were formally welcomed. Press Club President Jamal Uddin, Secretary Sukanta Chakraborty, Vice-President Anupam Pal and member Charukrishna Kar presented the guests with a commemorative publication prepared for Language Day 2024–25.
Addressing the gathering, Pranab Sarkar emphasized the importance of the Kailashahar Press Club in Tripura’s media landscape, stating: “After Agartala Press Club, Kailashahar Press Club plays the most significant role in the state’s journalism.”
He urged journalists to work in unity and announced that Agartala Press Club would extend full cooperation in future workshops and training programs aimed at skill development, including sending expert trainers when required.
Highlighting the need for regular workshops, Sarkar noted that such initiatives are vital for enhancing professional competence and improving journalistic standards. He also expressed his deep personal connection with Kailashahar, praising the warm hospitality he has received during his visits.
Sarkar concluded by thanking the members of Kailashahar Press Club for their invitation. The presence of the three visiting representatives drew journalists from across the subdivision, who gathered at the Press Club to mark the occasion.
