Agartala, 24th January 2026:   A woman has alleged that she was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon after her family refused to pay a demand of Rs 10 lakh. The incident, which also involved assault, looting, and vandalism, took place Friday night in the Fultali Matinagar area under Amtali police station.

According to the victim, several men including Pichon Mia, Abul Hossain, Abu Kalam and Kamal Bhuiyan approached Anwar Hossain, a local resident, demanding Rs 10 lakh. When Anwar refused, the group allegedly assaulted him and his father, Hashem Mia.

As Anwar’s wife Parula Khatun tried to intervene, she was attacked with a sharp weapon leaving her seriously injured. The assailants then stormed the family’s home, smashing furniture and looting Rs 80,000 in cash along with gold ornaments.

Fearing for their lives, Anwar, his father, and his wife fled into a nearby forest to hide. On Saturday, police detained Anwar Hossain and his father for questioning. Meanwhile, the accused reportedly prevented the injured woman from re-entering her home.

Seeking safety, Parula Khatun took shelter at Amtali Police Station from this afternoon. She has appealed to the media personnel and authorities for urgent protection and justice.
