Agartala, 20th September 2024: Amid the devastation caused by recent floods in Tripura, hope has emerged in the form of an uplifting initiative led by local artists. The IMA Foundation’s Bridge 2 Worlds has organized a remarkable exhibition of paintings in Agartala, where every brushstroke serves a greater purpose: supporting the flood victims. All proceeds from the exhibition are being directed to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Rupa Shill, one of the driving forces behind this noble endeavor, shared the story of how it all began. On April 15, an inspiring art workshop was held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, bringing together around 60 gifted artists who channeled their emotions and creativity into stunning works of art. What started as a gathering of talent and imagination quickly evolved into something far more significant — a mission to aid those affected by the floods.
“The event was more than just a celebration of artistic expression; it became a testament to the strength and compassion of our community in the face of adversity,” Rupa explained. The paintings created during the workshop are now being sold to raise funds for the flood relief efforts. Running from September 17 to September 21, this exhibition offers art lovers the chance to not only acquire beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces but also make a meaningful contribution to those in need. As of now, ten paintings have found new homes, with many more awaiting the appreciation of prospective buyers.
Rupa emphasized that the artworks have been priced with care, ensuring they remain accessible to a wide audience. The pricing, she noted, varies according to the quality and intricacy of each piece, but all remain affordable — a reflection of the artists’ deep commitment to making a difference.
“The proceeds from these sales will go directly towards supporting the flood relief efforts,” Rupa said. “This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for art enthusiasts to not only enrich their collections but also play a part in healing the wounds left by the floods.”
This heartfelt endeavor highlights the profound power of art — not only as a source of beauty and inspiration but also as a force for social change. Through creativity and compassion, these artists are transforming their craft into an impactful response to the challenges faced by their community.
