Arup Dhar claims clean chit after court-ordered probe; Questions raised over BJP suspension

Date:

Agartala, 4th August 2026 :  Fresh political discussions have emerged in Unakoti district after BJP Yuva Morcha leader Arup Dhar claimed that a court-directed investigation had found no evidence to support allegations made against him earlier this year, prompting speculation over whether the BJP will revoke his temporary suspension.

Addressing a press conference in Kailashahar on Tuesday, Dhar said the investigation, conducted by the Women’s Police under the direction of the court, concluded that the allegations levelled against him were false and baseless. He claimed the investigating agency submitted its final report before the court, giving him a clean chit.

The controversy began on March 11 this year when the wife of a resident of Kailashahar filed a case against Dhar, accusing him of various offences. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, the court directed the Women’s Police to conduct an impartial inquiry.

According to Dhar, the investigation found no substance in the allegations and described them as fabricated and politically motivated. He alleged that the case was part of a conspiracy aimed at damaging his political career and social reputation, adding that the court-monitored probe had exposed the truth.

The development has reignited discussions within the BJP and its Yuva Morcha unit in Unakoti district. Following the allegations, Dhar had been placed under temporary suspension from the post of district Yuva Morcha president as part of the party’s disciplinary measures.

With Dhar now claiming to have been exonerated through the court-directed investigation, attention has shifted to the BJP leadership over whether it will withdraw the suspension and reinstate him. However, neither the district nor the state BJP leadership has issued any official statement on the matter, leaving the party’s next course of action uncertain.
