Agartala, 19th November 2023: Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha alleged today that the ruling BJP has hatched a conspiracy against the country, and in response, Congress has launched a campaign to prevent such actions.
While observing the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, PCC Chief Saha stated, “By commemorating the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, we want to convey to the people of the country that, in the current scenario, Indira Gandhi’s legacy is highly relevant for national solidarity. Our Manipur is in turmoil, with people fighting amongst themselves. The ruling BJP appears to know how to incite division across the country, pushing people towards danger. This ruling party has allegedly plotted a conspiracy against the country, and in an effort to counteract such actions, Congress has initiated a campaign nationwide.”
In a press release later, PCC mentioned that the 106th birth anniversary of the country’s first woman former Prime Minister, Late Indira Gandhi, was celebrated across the state with due dignity under the Pradesh Congress’s initiative, mirroring celebrations nationwide.
The national flag and party flag were hoisted at all party offices, including district blocks and the state headquarters. A garland was placed on the portrait of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and wreaths were laid. In the presence of AICC Secretary Szarita Laithflang and one of the standing members of the Congress Working Committee, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, MLA Gopal Chandra Roy hoisted the national flag at the Pradesh Congress Bhawan.
The party flag was hoisted by former MLA and PCC President Ashish Kumar Saha, the Youth Congress flag by Neel Kamal Saha, and the NSUI flag by Swaroop Shil.
Subsequently, leaders and activists, including these officials, offered wreaths and paid tribute to the martyrs at the Shaheed Vedi at Gandhighat. Following this, everyone, including the leaders, participated in tree-planting activities in the local Gandhi Ghat and surrounding areas. On this day, party leaders and workers from across the state engaged in tree-planting programs, alongside other solidarity day celebrations at party offices. Additionally, fruit sweets were distributed among patients at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital and Khowai Sub-Divisional Hospital, and among the residents of Pabiachara Orphanage.
