Agartala, 16th August 2024:   Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Asish Kumar Saha has accused BJP Councillor Alak Roy of orchestrating an attack on a Congress worker and vandalizing his house after the worker refused to withdraw a case against Roy.

On Friday, Saha, along with other Congress leaders, visited the residence of Kuldeep Bahadur and his brother, Gobinda Bahadur, to assess the damage and show solidarity with the victims.

Speaking to reporters, Saha explained that the incident took place late Thursday night in the Baganbari area of AD Nagar, Agartala.

“Kuldeep Bahadur, a Congress worker, and his brother Gobinda Bahadur, a leader in our party, were targeted after Kuldeep’s son was assaulted on Monday. Kuldeep filed a case at the AD Nagar Police Station, but under the leadership of Councillor Alak Roy, a group of men pressured him to withdraw the case. When they refused, BJP-backed goons attacked their home and vandalized the property,” Saha alleged.

Saha also mentioned that he, along with the victims, had met with West District Superintendent of Police Kiran Kumar to seek protection and demand strict action against those responsible. “We cannot tolerate such violence, and we are calling for justice,” he emphasized.
