Asish slams ‘272 signatories’, questions credibility of Bihar poll results

Agartala, 24th November 2025:    Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Asish Kumar Saha today strongly criticized the statement issued by 272 “so-called prominent citizens” on November 19, alleging that it was part of a deliberate campaign to mislead the nation and shield the ruling BJP from rising public anger over alleged electoral manipulation.

In a press statement, Saha said the statement has sparked nationwide concern regarding “the script behind it and the timing of its release.”

“For more than 11 years, the ruling party and its propaganda machinery—including corporate-driven media, IT cells and WhatsApp University—have been distorting real information and hiding their crimes,” Saha alleged, adding that the November 19 statement was “nothing but a copy of this propaganda pattern.”

Saha stressed that issues mentioned in the document—voter list accuracy, independent voting rights, secure polling systems, prevention of black money in polls and communal violence—are indeed urgent.

“These are the most important demands of all democratic, peace-loving people across the country, including the Indian National Congress and all Opposition parties,” he said.

However, he questioned why the 272 signatories remained silent when democratic processes were allegedly subverted since 2014.

“Their silence during farcical elections, communal hate speeches, ballot tampering, collusion of police and the Election Commission, and evidence of fake voting exposes their intention,” Saha stated.

The TPCC President accused the BJP of capturing seats using manipulated electoral rolls and the newly introduced SIR (Swachh Voter List) system.

“The Bihar election result does not match ground reality. Even RSS-BJP supporters don’t believe it,” he claimed.

Citing Election Commission figures, Saha alleged major discrepancies: “The Commission said 67% of Bihar’s 7.42 crore voters cast votes—that is 4.97 crore. But total counted votes were 7.45 crore. Where did the extra 2.48 crore votes come from?”

He further questioned the suspension of 65 lakh EPIC cards and the addition of 21 lakh new voters without public clarification.

Saha said: “Those who issued the statement deserve condemnation from the people. The country will not tolerate this much longer. The public will rise to protect democracy and the Constitution—no force can stop it.”

The TPCC reiterated its demand for transparency and an independent Election Commission.
