Agartala, 24th November 2025: Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today chaired a high-level meeting at the Secretariat to review pressing issues concerning the Transport Department and the Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC).
The meeting was attended by the Vice-Chairman of TRTC, the Secretary of the Transport Department, the Transport Commissioner, the Additional Secretary of the Finance Department, the Managing Director of TRTC, and other board members.
During detailed discussions, several important decisions were taken to strengthen the functioning of the department and improve passenger services. Sources revealed that the government plans to purchase a significant number of new buses in the coming days to ensure smoother travel for commuters across the state.
At present, around 25 buses are operating on different routes in Tripura. Officials further informed that TRTC currently has 104 regular employees and 11 daily-rated workers engaged in its operations.
