Agartala, 12th April 2025: In a significant anti-drug operation, the Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) achieved major success yesterday in Teliamura. A vehicle was intercepted during the operation, leading to the seizure of 60,000 Yaba tablets, estimated to have a market value of ₹6 crore. Two individuals were also apprehended during the raid.
A statement issued by the Assam Rifles today revealed that the seizure was made based on a tip-off. Authorities received information about narcotics being smuggled using a vehicle with registration number S01AV1079 in Teliamura. Acting promptly, police officials set up surveillance in the area and successfully intercepted the vehicle. The confiscated narcotics are believed to have a significant international market value.
The Assam Rifles further reported that two individuals have been detained during the operation—Dilbar Hussain, a resident of Hailakandi, Assam, and Md Zuber Ahmad, a resident of Karimganj, Assam. Both suspects, along with the seized narcotics, have been handed over to the DRI for further investigation and legal proceedings.
