Assam Rifles, NDRF, Revenue dept & others hold joint flood relief exercise

Agartala, April 27, 2023: Agartala Battalion of Agartala Sector of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted a Joint Flood Relief Exercise with NDRF, State Revenue Dept, The Red Cross and the civil volunteer org at Gomati River, Udaipur Thursday.

In addition, other govt and non govt agencies like Tripura State Rifles, State Fire Service pers, Dist Hospital Team also participated with enthusiasm in the Joint Exercise.

The aim of the Joint Exercise was to assess the preparedness level as well as learn various innovative techniques of flood rescue amongst the  participants of all the agencies which will be involved in actual flood rescue operation in the State.

A flood situation was painted at Tepania village near River Gomati, Udaipur where nearby low lying areas were flooded due to incessant rains. A large number of Villagers especially old age women and children were presumed to be stranded in the flood affected areas. District Revenue Department gave a requisition to Assam Rifles flood relief team station at Udaipur and the Rescue teams demonstrated their professional skill of rescuing the stranded villagers from the flooded area.

The rescue teams of various other department also responded as per the situation painted to them and demonstrated their quick response drill using innovative rescue techniques and modern equipment.The technique and coordinated efforts shown by various agencies was appreciated by the State administration and  the civil volunteer org present at the exercise site.
