Assam Rifles seizes 150 Kgs of cannabis worth Rs 52.50 Lakhs at Sepahijala

Agartala, April 13, 2023: As part of the Assam Rifles massive crackdown on narcotics and drugs abuse in the state, Agartala battalion of Assam Rifles seized 150 Kgs of dry cannabis worth Rs 52.50 lakh hidden at the backyard of a house in Manikyanagar under Sepahijala district on Thursday.

Based on the input received from a reliable source of a large quantity of illegal processed cannabis hidden at  Manikyanagar village. A team of Agartala Battalion of Assam Rifles launch a swift operation in which 150 kgs of dry cannabis could be seized after thorough search of the area.

The cost of the seized cannabis is estimated to be of Rs 52.50 lakhs by the DRI and state police. The seized cannabis has been handed over to DRI, Agartala and an FIR has been registered against the owner of the house from whom backyard the item has been recovered.
