Assam Rifles seizes ganja worth Rs 1.74 crore in Khowai district

Agartala, 7th October 2026 :   In a crackdown against narcotics trafficking, Assam Rifles, in coordination with Customs, conducted an operation on 06 October 2026 in Khowai District, Tripura, resulting in the seizure of 340 kgs of Ganja valued at approximately ₹1.74 crore. The operation was conducted based on intelligence inputs and continuous surveillance.

During the operation, the joint team intecepted a Ford Ecosport vehicle and  upon searching the vehicle, 340 kgs of Ganja was recovered.

The recovery of the illicit drugs highlights the continued efforts by Assam Rifles and partner agencies to disrupt narcotics trafficking networks operating through the Northeast.

The recovered contraband and the seized vehicle have been handed over to Customs authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
