Agartala, 27th February 2024:    In a demonstration of frustration over prolonged neglect of road conditions, auto drivers staged a protest today, blocking the crucial route from Maharajganj Bazar to Maheshkhala. The blockade brought traffic to a standstill, highlighting the severity of the issues faced by drivers navigating the deteriorating road.

The road in question has allegedly been in a state of disrepair for an extended period, causing immense difficulties for auto drivers and other commuters. Despite numerous complaints lodged with high-ranking officials of the PDW, no tangible steps were taken to address the persistent problem, prompting the auto drivers to take matters into their own hands.

This morning, the frustrated auto drivers, armed with banners demanding road reform, gathered to stage a peaceful protest that eventually resulted in the blockade. The standstill drew attention to the urgency of the situation, forcing the authorities to respond.

Officials from the PWD, upon being notified of the protest, rushed to the scene to engage with the demonstrators. After a series of discussions, the officials assured the protesting auto drivers that the necessary repairs would be expedited to alleviate the road conditions.

The auto drivers, taking the officials at their word, decided to lift the blockade in reliance on the promise of swift action.
