Auto-Rickshaw Driver’s Family Loses Valuables in Burglary While Out for Durga Puja

Date:

Agartala, 17th October 2026 : The security situation in Agartala has once again come under scrutiny following a daring burglary in the capital during the Durga Puja festivities. The incident has heightened concerns among residents who leave their homes unattended to visit pandals.

According to reports, Bikash Saha, an auto-rickshaw driver residing in the Kunjaban area of Agartala, had gone out with his family to visit Puja pandals on the night of Maha Shashthi. When they returned home early on Saptami morning, they found that burglars had ransacked the house and stolen valuables.

The family members were devastated by the sight. They alleged that the burglars had taken gold and silver ornaments, ₹25,000 in cash, and several items of clothing, including shirts and trousers.

The affected family’s house is reportedly located barely one kilometre from the Abhoynagar Police Outpost, raising questions about security arrangements in the area.

The homeowner has lodged a complaint with the police. He also revealed that gold items had been stolen from his vehicle a few days earlier, and a case had been registered at West Agartala Police Station in connection with that incident.

The family is now awaiting police action and hopes that the authorities will solve both cases of theft.
