Agartala, 20th January 2026: As part of National Road Safety Month 2026, a month-long series of initiatives aimed at reducing road accidents and raising awareness among drivers has been launched across the state. On Tuesday, the Teliamura Sub-Division Administration and the Khowai District Transport Department jointly organized a public awareness programme at the Netaji Nagar bus stand in Teliamura.
The event was attended by Teliamura MLA and Chief Whip of the State Assembly, Kalyani Saha Roy, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Apurba Krishna Chakraborty, DCM Sandeep Debbarma, Chairman of Teliamura Municipal Council Rupak Sarkar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rohan Krishan, along with officials from the administration, police, and transport departments.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Kalyani Saha Roy voiced concern over illegal parking along city roads, criticizing the traffic department’s handling of the issue. She noted that unauthorized parking was disrupting traffic flow and increasing the risk of accidents. She urged the Sub-Divisional Police Officer to take stricter measures to prevent such problems in the future.
During the programme, drivers were reminded of the importance of wearing helmets, fastening seatbelts, following traffic rules, and prioritizing road safety. Officials announced that similar awareness campaigns will continue throughout National Road Safety Month to promote safer driving practices across the region.
