Agartala, 5th November 2024: An awareness and education program on drug addiction and substance abuse was conducted at the Conference Hall of Sonamura Revenue Dak Bungalow in Sepahijala district from November 5 to 11. The initiative was organized by the Tripura Adventure Social Expedition Organization, Melaghar with financial assistance from the Nehru Yuva Kendra, West Tripura under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sonamura Nagar Panchayat Chairman Sarada Chakraborty. He was accompanied by Sonamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mahendra Chakma, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Shashimohan Debbarma, Sonamura Sub-Divisional Press Club Secretary Abhijit Bardhan and Sub-Divisional Sports Officer I.K. Madhusudan Debbarma.
Approximately 50 students from various schools within the subdivision participated in the workshop. During the event, speakers discussed in detail how to prevent today’s youth from falling into addiction and the important role that students play in combating this issue.
The event concluded with a seven-day workshop, highlighted by Tripura Adventure Social Expedition Organization Secretary Liton Shil, which focused on further educating and empowering the youth against drug abuse.
