Bagbasa highway blockade demands arrest of attack accused

Date:

Agartala, 13th August 2026 : The Assam-Agartala National Highway was blockaded at Bagbasa on Thursday by high-speed tuk-tuk drivers demanding the immediate arrest of those allegedly involved in a violent clash between two groups of drivers.

The protest followed a confrontation on Wednesday over passenger services, in which driver Tapan Das was reportedly injured. Although Das has lodged a complaint, protesters alleged that the police have yet to register a case and that the accused remain at large.

The blockade was continuing at the time of filing this report, with no talks reportedly held between the administration and the protesting drivers. The drivers said they would continue the road blockade indefinitely until the accused persons are arrested.
