Bajrang Dal protests after monkey found hung from tree

Agartala, 12th January 2026:  A shocking incident of animal cruelty has come to light in Debdaru Gram Panchayat–1 under Jolaibari area of Santirbazar subdivision, where a monkey was allegedly killed and hung from a tree with its hands tied.

Reportedly, members of the Sanatani Bajrang Dal rushed to the spot after receiving information and recovered the body of the monkey from the tree. Forest Department officials also arrived shortly after and, under their supervision, the animal was buried.

The gruesome act has sparked widespread anger among Bajrang Dal supporters. Speaking to the media personnel, Santanu Debnath, in-charge of the Bajrang Dal’s South District unit condemned the incident stating that such acts would not be tolerated. He demanded immediate identification of the culprits and strict punishment under forest laws.

Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further to ensure accountability and prevent recurrence of such cruelty.
