‘Ban Mitras’ submits memorandum with three demands to Director of Forest department

Date:

Agartala, September 09: A deputation was presented to the Director of the Forest Department by ‘Ban Mitras’, outlining a three-point charter of demands. The demands include an immediate increase in their monthly salary to Rs 15,000, the provision of specific uniforms, and the approval of these changes by the finance department.

The ‘Ban Mitras’ were initially hired in 2021 with a monthly salary of Rs 3,080. This salary was later increased to Rs 4,840. Despite working 20 days a month, many workers have left due to the insufficient salary, leaving the department with over 700 employees.

The officials took out a procession in the Gorkhabasti area before presenting their deputation. They have repeatedly requested a salary increase from the Director, who had assured them of a raise. However, no action has been taken so far, prompting the officials to protest once again.

The forest officials have demanded that their salaries be increased to Rs 15,000 immediately. If their demands are not met, they have threatened to resign from their positions.
