Agartala, 17th October 2025:   The Government of Bangladesh today has strongly protested the lynching of three of its citizens in Tripura’s Khowai district, demanding an impartial and transparent investigation from Indian authorities.

The incident occurred on 15 October 2025, in the border village of Vidyabil, where a mob reportedly killed three Bangladeshi nationals accused of attempting to steal cattle. The situation escalated after the alleged intruders attacked two local residents with sharp weapons, one of whom later succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement issued on Friday, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the “brutal beating and killing” of its citizens, describing the act as a “grave violation of human rights and the rule of law.”

“This heinous act is unacceptable. The Government of Bangladesh expresses deep concern over this deplorable incident and urges the Government of India to conduct an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation,” the statement read. “The perpetrators must be identified and brought to justice. All individuals, regardless of nationality, are entitled to full protection of their human rights, wherever they may be.”

According to Tripura Police, the three Bangladeshi nationals had crossed the border early that morning with the alleged intention of stealing cattle. “When villagers confronted them, the suspects attacked with sharp weapons, injuring two locals. In retaliation, the mob overpowered the intruders and beat them to death,” police said.
