Bangladesh Sends 600 kg Mangoes to Tripura as Gesture of Friendship

Date:

Agartala, 1st July 2026:  Bangladesh has once again extended a gesture of goodwill to India by sending a 600-kg consignment of premium mangoes to Tripura, highlighting the continuing friendly relations between the two neighbours.

The shipment, comprising popular varieties such as Haribhanga and Amrapali, was formally presented to Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. The initiative was described by Hasan Al Bashar Abul Ulayee, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala, as part of an ongoing tradition that reflects the close cultural and diplomatic ties shared across the border.

He noted that the annual exchange of seasonal fruits has become a meaningful symbol of warmth and cooperation between Bangladesh and the Indian state of Tripura.

The consignment entered India through the Akhaura Integrated Check Post in Brahmanbaria district, where it was cleared by customs before being handed over for distribution. Packed in 120 cartons, the mangoes will be shared among senior officials, including the Chief Minister and Governor, through the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.

Such exchanges are part of a long-standing practice, with Bangladesh regularly gifting mangoes to Tripura while receiving GI-tagged queen variety pineapples in return, further strengthening the spirit of mutual respect and friendship between the two sides.
