Agartala, 26th April 2025:  A Bangladeshi youth was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) while allegedly attempting to cross the Indo-Bangla border at Kayerdhepa in Kamalasagar assembly constituency. The individual identified as Nirmal Biswas (38) hails from Malda area under Kasba police station in Brahmanbaria district, Bangladesh.

According to officials, Biswas was arrested while scaling the border fence. “The youth was caught while trying to enter India illegally. Our personnel took immediate action,” said a senior BSF officer on condition of anonymity.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that Biswas was subjected to physical assault after his arrest. “We saw BSF personnel beating him before handing him over to the police,” claimed a local resident, preferring to remain unnamed.

Following the arrest, Biswas was transferred to Madhupur police station, where authorities began questioning him. “Initial investigations suggest he was heading towards Agartala, but we believe there could be more to this,” stated a police official.

This afternoon, Biswas was produced before the Bishalgarh Sub-divisional Court. Meanwhile, officials continue their investigation into the matter.
