Agartala, November 23, 2022: Following demolition and eviction drive by the Agartala Municipal Corporation along with police force at Battala market on Tuesday last, all business establishments were closed at Battala as a silent protest against the alleged inhumane attitude of the Corporation on Wednesday.

Speaking to media personnel on day of shut down, one of businessmen in Battala market said “The government will run on its own way and we always cooperate with the government administration. We don’t want anyone’s loss. The market committee’s word is if the administration is willing to demolish any kind of shop or establishment, at least the market committee needs to be given prior information.”

“People may be involved in various business and if their shops are demolished then how come they will run their families, earn their livelihood. Already, COVID pandemic for two years has ruined our businesses. The administration needs to think for an alternative before initiating any strict action. They are also the people of this state”, he added.
