Agartala, 4th December 2024:   Belonia Police Station staff rescued an injured Bangladeshi near the Muhurighat Checkpost in Belonia sub-division. He has been taken to South Tripura District Hospital at Santirbazar for treatment.

The injured man admitted to entering Belonia from Bangladesh without a passport by climbing over the barbed wire at the checkpost. He regularly smuggles onions and garlic. The cause of his injuries remains unknown. The police have launched an investigation.

This incident raises concerns about the effectiveness of the police, BSF, and customs officers at the Belonia border, given the frequent smuggling activities in the area.
