Agartala, 16th December 2023:  In a significant development on Saturday, the Bengali Farmers and Laborers Society dispatched a delegation to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the District Governor. The memorandum encompasses a comprehensive 7-point demand aimed at addressing the crucial concerns of farmers and laborers in the region.

The delegation, led by organization secretary Bimal Das and comprising other key representatives, formally presented their demands to the District Magistrate of West District. The focal points of the memorandum include urging the government to provide financial compensation to farmers and laborers adversely affected by recent natural calamities, advocating for the establishment of proper pricing mechanisms for agricultural products by designating agriculture as an industry, and pushing for the inclusion of all agricultural crops under comprehensive agricultural insurance.

The move underscores the organization’s commitment to championing the rights and interests of the local farming and labor communities. As the Chief Minister’s office receives the memorandum, the society awaits a response that could potentially shape the future of agricultural policies in the region.
